07 Weekly REPORT
Digest of everything I Read, Loved & Recommend
Feeling nostalgic, and yearning for the early Spring days. My prayers are answered because the sunny Spring weather arrived! To get me ready for the new season I bought new fragrance and new books!
How are you?
READING
The book of the week was Sisters by a River written by Barbara Comyns. This was her first published novel and also my introduction to her work. How I loved this! It is unsettling, wry, intriguing. Someone said there is this giggling sound in the background of the story and i completely agree. The giggles are a bit sinister but not too much. It reminded me of the haunting, fog enclosing, slowly suffocating feeling of We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. This story is told in an almost child-like tone: non-chronological chapters, bits and pieces, innocently dropping unexpected fragments of haunting information. Comyns’ story is semi-autobiographical which is a bit questionable and worrying. However I enjoyed reading this book and IMMEDIATELY ordered another novel.
Next read
Another new-to-me author is Caroline Blackwood. Her works fall in the same category as stories written by Shirley Jackson and Barbara Comyns. There is an underlying feeling of suspense and something is a bit off.
I also decided to pick up The Master and Margarita by Mikhael Bulgakov, mostly to read on the go or before bed — and I love it!
LOVING
Rose and floral scented body care
At the moment I am really enjoying floral scents, maybe because of Valentine’s Day, or maybe in anticipation of Spring.
Santa Maria Novella Rose Gardenia Bath & Shower gel
Rituals Cherry Blossom Body Butter
Weleda Citrus deodorant
Reminds me of the freshness of Spring and Summer. How I love this.
Lush Tumeric Latte Sold Stick & Vanillary Solid Stick
Tumeric Latte smells like holidays and Vanillary is a cute, subtle but lovely scent.
Caia Cosmetics Lip Oil Grape + Clinique Almost Black Honey
First I line my lips with Caia Cosmetics Lip Pencil in colour Bryce. Then apply a light layer of the Almost Black Honey and finish with the Lip Oil. The perfect combination for luscious lips!
PLAYING
In last week’s REPORT I mentioned my listening to Sense & Sensibility narrated by Elizabeth. Finished it on Friday and started with Emma the next morning. Really enjoyed this whilst walking.
Perfume Tour — Caitlyn Richardson
February vlog & reading updates — Malissa
Qi Gong to Calm and Clear the Mind
OBSESSING & WEARING
Lisa Yang knitwear
Styles I really like at the moment are Julianne and Ulva. Both are cardigans and suited for the colder weather. Julianne style can be worn as a jacket too!
Really loving the combination of wearing this merino polo with the merino t-shirt. Both are by the Danish brand Dilling, which specialises in merino garments. Great for early spring days or even for winter paired with a thermal layer.
RECOMMENDING
Morning walks… watching the sunrises.

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!

I loved reading Emma. Even though it’s slow-paced, the story is amazing and has some really strong moments 💌
